About the Accounting Spring School

Our Matric Spring School is a comprehensive two week course run during the school holidays. It covers the entire Matric Accounting Syllabus throughout the year

The first eight days of the course covers all the course content. This is an opportunity to revise what you've already learned and then fill in the gaps. The final two days will be for going over past papers. We will prepare you for questions and what to expect in the final exams. We will also teach you exam tips and techniques.

Course Coordinator

The course will be taught by Senzo Mtzingizane who is currently doing his honours in Accounting at the University of Cape Town (UCT). Senzo achieved 98% for Matric accounting and has a degree in BCOM Accounting from UCT. Senzo is a highly qualified and experienced accounting tutor who has taught learners from Grade 10 to Matric. He has also taught University level accounting at the UCT.

Day 2 - Fixed Assets

Day 3 - Inventory Systems

Perpetual vs Periodic Inventory System
FIFO Method vs Weighted Average Method

Day 4 - Companies

Introduction
Ethics
End year adjustments

Day 5 - Companies

Financial Statements: Income Statement, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow Statement
Analysis and Interpretation of Financial Statements
Audit Report

Week 2 (9 -13 July)

Day 6 - VAT & Budgeting

Concepts and Calculations
VAT input, VAT output and Vat Control
Cash Budget

Day 7 - Manunfacturings

Cost Calculations
Break-even
Ledger Accounts
Production Cost Statement

Day 8 to 10 - Revision

In this lesson we revise work from the first two weeks and go over any areas the students are still not confident in their understanding. We will do past paper questions to help prepare for final exams.
