Questions about amended certificates

What is an amended Matric Certificate?

This is a matric certificate for adult students older that 21 or students with incomplete matric certificates.

Do I have to write all subjects?

No, you only need to write subjects that you have not passed. Any higher grade subjects that you have already passed in previous exams will be credited.

Do I qualify for amended Matric Certificate?

If you are an adult learner you need to have one of the following

  1. A General Education and Training Certificate (GETC) for Adult Basic Education and Training (ABET).
  2. A school report showing that you have passed Grade 9 (standard 7).
  3. A recognized equivalent qualification obtained at NQF Level 1, which requires two official languages.
  4. Passed some matric subjects (incomplete matric certificate).
  5. Have completed matric between 2008 and 2011.

When do I register for an amended senior matric certificate?

You need to register for the June amended senior certificate exam in September of the previous year.

What do I need to register?

Certified ID document, proof of address and copy of previous results (grade 9 report or previous matric/GETC/ABET certificate).
