Registering to rewrite matric

If you are looking to write matric and are still in school it is your school's responsibility to register you with the Department of Education. However, if you are not in school you can still register to write or rewrite matric.

When you need to register

You need to register to write matric exams in October/November this year between the 3rd of February and the 15th of March. If the 15th of March has passed you need to register before the end of November for the June Exams next year. When you join our Matric Rewrite Program Cape Town Tutors will help you with the process.

If you wrote exams between 2016-2018 you are eligible to write the November exams as your CASS (continued assssment) is still valid. You need to register by the 15th of March. If you wrote matric before 2016 you need to register for an adult senior certificate.

Where to register

Students in Cape Town need to register at the Western Cape Department of Education. It is a fairly stress-free process. You need to go to their offices which are situated at Grand Central (see map below). You need to take a pen but if you forget you can fill in the form they give you at the post office next door. Once you fill in the details and give them the required documents (ID, proof of address, previous results) they will give you a pink slip. You should receive an email and/or sms to confirm registration.
